This week in review

October 28th, 2016Amy2 Comments

Starting where we left off last week, I finished Happy Family, and I'm sorry to say, it doesn't get better. I was expecting the "happy" part of the title to be meant ironically but not…

Lucy reads and runs

October 28th, 2016Amy0 Comments

When Dash has soccer practice, mom and I bring books and camping chairs and just sit and read until he's done. We sit under the trees with our books. Recently I ran cross country. It…

Straight up, with a twist

October 28th, 2016Amy4 Comments

I'm almost always disappointed by thrillers, but I still keep going back for more. I think it all comes down to the twist. Either the twist isn't shocking enough, so you see it coming, or…

I suppose I could just say, “like the color.”

October 26th, 2016Amy4 Comments

Here's an exchange that happens every time someone is taking down my info, complete with inner monologue: "Last name?" "Green." "Is that with an E?" "No." Don't. Don't do it. You know what he means.…

Running up that hill

October 26th, 2016Amy1 Comment

We drive over a long steep hill every day on the way to school. Steep enough that when you're going down, the kids shout, "Roller coaster!" and when you're going up, you need to downshift…

Every time I see the cover of A Little Life, I feel queasy. It's been about a year since I read it and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I don't know…

You never forget your first cookie

October 23rd, 2016Amy0 Comments

I've been making these peanut butter cookies for so long, I forget that they're legitimately good. I think of them as something really easy to let the kids learn to make, or something quick if…

Lucy recommends: Warriors

October 23rd, 2016Amy1 Comment

There's this series I really like called Warriors. A lot of kids my age at school read them. It's about cats who live in clans and they hunt animals in the forest and have battles…

Dash Ninjago

There are four ninja. Cole, Jay, Kai, and Zane. Also Lloyd and Nya. Sensei Wu and Sensei Garmadon are their teachers. I really like when the ninja fight the great devourer because Lord Garmadon is…

The Week in Review

October 21st, 2016Amy1 Comment

I feel like I was very busy this week, but I still managed to get plenty of reading in. I finished The Nix over the weekend. It started out great and never lost momentum. It…

About Me

I love to read. I've always loved to read. Most days, it's the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing I do at night. I know I'll never be able to read all the books that I want to, but I'm giving it my best shot. When I'm not reading, I'm probably running. You may have seen me out there with the pink socks, although I recently switched to green and blue. (Go 'Hawks!) It's lucky that I love to run because I have a pretty serious sweet tooth. What do I love more, making dessert or eating it? Too close to call. But I do know that my kids will grow up knowing how to make a perfect brownie.
